DC Next Bus App Reviews

So much easier to use than wmata website. Shows stops in map layout so easy to find stops. Shows all upcoming buses at that stop regardless of line. Also displays the full tour on the map to easily help you plan a trip. Great app!

This is a pretty good app overall. The bus timing seems accurate and the stations are clearly marked. Being able to select a route and highlight it on the map is fantastic, and something I desperately want in the Metro app. Including it differentiates this app. However, the Ride On buses seem non-existent. Even once you turn them on in "settings" they dont show up. This is unfortunate, as I was really looking for an app that can handle the Ride On buses smoothly. Finally, theres no option to search by station or by route. If that was included, this would be by far the best DC area bus app.

Like this one compared to the other ones, interface is awesome. One suggestion though, manual refresh button lacking. But love it anyway, going to get the paid one, once manual update is included.

Does this work for ride on bus? I dont see any of the stops near my place even though I have the setting for ride on enabled...

The basic idea of this app - that it pinpoints the bus stop closest to you and shows you the route on a map - is ingenious. I dont know why all bus route apps dont work this way. It is so much faster to use when you at elsewhere in town besides your home and work bus stops. Accuracy of the arrival data is as good as it can be considering the shoddiness of WMATAs NextBus predictions. Let us all hope one day WMATA moves to real time bus tracking so we dont have to wait for a bus that doesnt come.

The arrival times for my bus stops are wrong about 90% of the time. Didnt have this problem before the latest update

When it works it works well. Sadly it only works about 60% of the time. I get unable to load errors all the time in downtown DC outside with service.

Best DC bus app I have found and I have tried several. 1) I like that the basic interface uses the map so it is easy to locate nearby buses. 2) This app is the only one I have used that shows you the bus routes on the map. That lets you know if the bus goes near a place you want to go! Very helpful. Just wish it added the Circulator buses to the app! I recently had a technical problem updating the app and sent an email to the developer. I got a prompt reply with the solution!
